Rewild the Snowies

With the yearly tradition of doing something to give back to the natural world at We Are Explorers, it was my turn to take the lead on a crowd-funding project.

In 2021, we decided to work with Keep It Cool, a not-for-profit organization based in the Snowy Mountains committed to helping restore and regenerate land through their tree-planting project.

The goal? To raise $30,000 and plant 6,000 trees.

The result? We crowdfunded $40,000 to plant 8,000 native trees in the Snowy Mountains!

As campaign manager, I was responsible for the production process and working with the team to run the entire crowdfunding campaign.

After finalizing the campaign name, I reached out to Snowy Mountains local and graphic designer, Leah Foster, to begin the process of formulating the campaign aesthetic and creating the necessary assets needed to both inform and educate our audience about ‘Rewild the Snowies’. This included a t-shirt design complete with an accurate representation of local fauna in the region.

In order to incentivize donations, brand partners including Le Bent, Capital Brewing, Zorali, and Thredbo Resort were brought on board to donate products that were used to structure perks for donors at different levels of donations.

Upon conclusion of the campaign came the task of organizing the tree-planting event in collaboration with Keep it Cool and the land owners in the Snowy Mountains, where contributors could come along and plant their own saplings in the ground. Needless to say, it was an unforgettable experience.
